An Abundance of Gingerbread, and Giving
The holiday tunes were cranking, the frosting was flowing and the candy was crunching. The results were mini works of art, each festive, colorful and beautiful. The best part – these delightful creations were made to give away.
On Sunday, the children of the Community Unitarian Church in White Plains- including my own four children- spent the morning creating gingerbread houses. Today, the houses were delivered to the White Plains Senior Center. Bright, sweet smiles lit up the lobby of the Center as the houses made their way into the building; the seniors were enchanted. The colorful cards from the children, handwritten holiday messages of friendship from one generation to another, were the icing on the cake- um, I mean gingerbread. These works of art will be showcased at the upcoming holiday party at the Center.
These beautiful little gingerbread houses made a lot of people happy- not only the seniors who received them, but the children who made them, and the adults who helped them, too.
